How Does JustAnswer Work?
For people with questions, the process is pretty straightforward: post a question, pay a fee, and get matched with an expert in that area. The user communicates with the expert however they please—talk, text, or chat—and can even send the expert documents or photos.
The expert answers the question, and if the answer is helpful, the user then rates the expert. If the answer isn’t helpful or the user isn’t satisfied, they can ask for a refund.
As a JustAnswer expert, you’ll answer questions in the category or categories you have expertise in. Simply log into your account and view the questions JustAnswer paired you with. You can see what the question is, how many other experts have already answered the question, and the fee the user is paying for the question.

How Much Can I Make as a JustAnswer Expert?
When a user asks a question, they pay a fee to ask it. That fee can be anywhere from $5 to $90. Some users join as a member to ask unlimited questions and pay a monthly membership fee instead. As a JustAnswer expert, you can see the fee the user is paying before answering the question.
After you answer a question, the user then decides if they accept your answer and will leave you a review. Once you receive a positive rating from the user, you earn a commission from the fee.
As a new expert, you’ll earn 20% of whatever the user pays. Over time, though, with enough consistently high ratings, you can work your way up to 50% of the fee. JustAnswer pays via PayPal, and you need at least $20 in your account before you can withdraw the funds.
How Do I Become a JustAnswer Expert?
In many respects, applying to be a JustAnswer expert is like applying for any other job. So, make sure you update your resume and highlightyour expertise.
JustAnswer verifies that all of their experts are indeed experts through a third party service. To prove that you know your stuff, JustAnswer uses an 8-step verification process to vet and verify all applicants.
As part of the verification process, you have to send JustAnswer:
- Your resume or CV
- Copies of your credentials (school transcripts, certifications, or licenses)
- Your ID
- Your Social Security number
- A recent photo
To start your application, give JustAnswer your name and a few personal details (including part of your Social Security number and date of birth). Then you’ll tell them what you’re an expert in. You’ll start with a main category, then select up to two subcategories.
The main categories can be anything from “general” to “finance” to “medical.” Then, depending on what main category you pick, you’ll be able to select from a number of subcategories. Some of these subcategories are:

After you’ve selected a specialty and subspecialty, fill out your work history (or upload your resume). Then enter all your license and certification information and your educational history.
